About Our School

Architecture/Engineering, Medicine, and Social Justice scaffold across our middle school curriculum. This interdisciplinary approach is supported by partnerships with the Center for Architecture, the Salvadori Center for Engineering, Classroom inc, PAIDEIA, Learning through an Expanded Arts Program (LEAP), The NY Tolerance Center, Best Buddies, and Facing History and Ourselves.

In 6th grade the students focus on architecture and engineering. In 7th grade they explore medicine, health care, nutrition, as well as career opportunities in the medical field. Our 7th grade learn how to be physician's assistants. In 8th grade students confront ethical and moral issues, and learn to be responsible and respectful citizens, through an exploration of history and current events and opportunities for community service. Through our magnet themes our students are introduced to many professions in the various fields and are offered opportunities to engage in rigorous intellectual discussions about global issues that face us today. Our PAIDEIA seminars enhance critical and creative thinking skills allow students to discuss and share opinions, and foster values and behaviors required for a sustainable future. Further opportunities for students to engage in the Magnet themes will be offered during the school’s exciting new after school program.

We are also very proud of our school music enrichment program.
