Heart Surgery Program
As part of the Magnet’s career exploration initiative, the Magnet is funding a highly rigorous afterschool academic Heart Surgery Program. Students who are interested in exploring careers in health care participate in 36 hours of hands-on labs, showcasing careers in medical technology, sports medicine, and exercise physiology. Students study the comparative physiology and anatomy of the cardiovascular systems of amphibians, reptiles, and mammals. Students love the unique hands on experience. Look at the photos of the class dissecting a heart.
