Recognizing that learning does not stop at the end of the official school day, The Discovery School for Inquiry and Research offers an extensive variety of after school and Saturday programs. After school offerings support the inquiry based approach to learning that is embodied within classroom practice. Classes including Deluxe Digitals, Healthy Tidbits, and Crafts for the Creative engage students in focused research while enhancing their digital, culinary, and artistic skills. A crocheting class is also offered to students in the upper grades. In addition, The Discovery School for Inquiry and Research caters to the needs of its linguistically diverse student population through the provision of a biweekly after school ESL program.

Saturday Academy provides students with opportunities to engage in a wide variety of academic, recreational, and social pursuits. Enrichment clusters in the core curriculum areas of science and social studies facilitate focused inquiries into scientific concepts and geographical understandings within a small group setting. The Discovery School for Inquiry and Research addresses the health and well being of students through the provision of a Saturday physical education program. In addition, weekend family outings to places such as the Staten Island Children’s Museum and South Street Seaport are organized in an effort to encourage family involvement in student learning.
