Frequently Asked Questions
1. If I have a child entering Pre-K in September 2009, can I still apply to the magnet program at The Discovery School for Inquiry and Research?

Although our Pre-K classes are involved in inquiry and research-based learning, students entering Pre-K need to complete a separate application. You can find the Universal Pre-K Application online at www.nyc.schools.gov, or you can call The Discovery School for Inquiry and Research at (718) 359-0620 and speak with Rena Matzelle.

2. If my child already attends another elementary school, can I still apply to join The Discovery School for Inquiry and Research?

Students who live in district 25 or 28 and will be entering kindergarten through 4th grade in September 2009 are eligible to apply.

3. Will transportation be provided?

Free contracted bus transportation is NOT provided for Magnet students. Students who are eligible in third, fourth and fifth grades will receive free bus and/or train passes for public transportation.

4. Which district do I live in?

Information detailing district boundaries is available at http://schools.nyc.gov/FindASchool/AdvanceSearch.htm?level=02
